MTNL and BSNL  has started its VRS scheme for employees. The VRS window started on 4 November 2019. And employees are on average getting 15-20 lakhs as VRS exgratia amount. The highest amount is slated to be Rs. 90 lakhs.

In BSNL, after the VRS window closed total 78,569 people have opted for VRS of BSNL.

After the VRS there will be 70000 employees will be in service in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

And after the final window ended on December 3 2019 Fourteen thousand three hundred and seventy eight (14,378 )employees have opted for VRS.

The initial target was 13,650 employees.

This will reduce MTNL  annual salary bill from Rs 2,272 crore to Rs 500 crore. 

Now MTNL is left with 4,430 employees which is sufficient to run the business in two circle, Delhi & Mumbai as per MTNL CMD  Mr. Sunil Kumar. MTNL i salso planning to outsource a bunch of works to third parties and vendors for smooth service. 

In coming days MTNL is expected to give better service through the young executives and new outsourcing team. As per source BSNL has  already floated tender to manage it s exchanges, and other work. MTNL is expected to follow suit.

MTNL has already restructured some of the top management post in the month of December for better coordination and efficiency. All this seems to have a positive sentiment. The MTNL share price has also rise in recent times sharply. With small telecom operator closed now its a 4 operator market.

4. Vodafone + idea.

But vodafone idea's financial condition seems really bad  even telecom minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad told he didnot appreciate the Vodafone Idea's threat of closing down.

MTNL Broadband to MTNL FTTH Migration.

MTNL Mumbai unit has launched a new scheme under which MTNL broadband (triband) customer can migrate to MTNL FTTH connection. Why ? MTNL broadband/triband offers speed of 6 Mbps/ 8 Mbps etc. with the increasing number of devices the speed is not being adequate so in a need for speed FTTH seems a better alternative. Teledensity indicators of various services in India April – June, 2018 Indian decreasing Teledensity  1. The number of telephone subscribers in India declined from 1,206.22 million at the end of Mar-18 to 1,168.89 million at the end of Jun-18, registering a decline rate of 3.09% over the previous quarter.
