MTNL Broadband to MTNL FTTH Migration.

MTNL Mumbai unit has launched a new scheme under which MTNL broadband (triband) customer can migrate to MTNL FTTH connection.

Why ?
MTNL broadband/triband offers speed of 6 Mbps/ 8 Mbps etc. with the increasing number of devices the speed is not being adequate so in a need for speed FTTH seems a better alternative.Because MTNL FTTH offers good speed. Plan are starting from 50 Mbps besides there are 100 Mbps plans. also free calls are in the plans.

First Rule The customer building must be fibre enabled by MTNL. that means if the place/building where the customer resides is FTTH ready. ( in case the building is not fibre ready that customer can contact nearest MTNL office with request if there is bulk customer or some good number customer than MTNL will enable the building with fibre service soon)

Point 2- The number will change from your existing number e.g If you have a number 282XXXXX. And you want to migrate to FTTH the new number may be 208XXXXX  #

What are the charges for shifting from Broadband connection to FTTH connection.

FTTH registration/activation charges - Nil (Rs 500 Waived off)
FTTH voice installation charges- Nil  (Rs 200 waived off)*

FTTH ONT charge - Rs. 1000.
             or
FTTH wifi ONT- 1500

Since there is shortage of wifi ONT at various offices customer may take FTTH ONT from MTNL and purchase a wireless router from market or online vendors. Some of the wireless routers are

Mi 3C Router
TP-Link TL-WR841N 300Mbps Wireless-N Router
TP-Link Archer C20 AC750 Wireless Dual Band Router

TP-LINK TL-WR940N Wireless-N450 Home Router

The advantage of purchasing a wireless router is that its price is about 1000 bucks. And you dont need to pay MTNL rs. 600 as upfront charges and monthly rental of Rs. 70. In six month time you are able to recover the amount.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#Some old customers having old number which has been shared with lit of relatives or business partners do not want to change the number.
In that case there are two alternatives to keep the number First change the number to only landline and you have to pay a monthly rental for the landline extra.
Or else by paying Rs. 50 extra you can receive all the calls dialled to your old landline number in your FTTH number. In this way you will notmiss any call. But whenever you are dialling only the FTTH number will be shown not the landline.

* If the customer had only standalone broadband connection than he has to pay the charge Rs. 200.
